One day Carver Briggs had it all—three best friends, a supportive family, and a reputation as a talented writer at his high school, Nashville Academy for the Arts.

The next day he lost it all when he sent a simple text to his friend Mars, right before Mars, Eli, and Blake were killed in a car crash.

Now Carver can’t stop blaming himself for the accident, and he’s not the only one. Eli’s twin sister is trying to freeze him out of school with her death-ray stare. And Mars’s father, a powerful judge, is pressuring the district attorney to open a criminal investigation into Carver’s actions.

Luckily, Carver has some unexpected allies: Eli’s girlfriend, the only person to stand by him at school; Dr. Mendez, his new therapist; and Blake’s grandmother, who asks Carver to spend a Goodbye Day with her to share their memories and say a proper goodbye to his friend.

Soon the other families are asking for a Goodbye Day with Carver, but he’s unsure of their motives. Will they all be able to make peace with their losses, or will these Goodbye Days bring Carver one step closer to a complete breakdown or—even worse—prison?

This book… oh my god! This book broke my heart into million pieces, but this book also fixed my broken heart & taught me a very good lesson in life. So I was chosen as one of the participants in the #GoodByeDaysPHblogtour by Jasmine (@jasminepearlreads). I was so happy to be part of this blog tour & also get the chance to read this amazing book.

Let’s start off with the Characters…
Our protagonist Carver Briggs experienced grief, fear & guilt after his friends died in a car accident which he thought was his fault. I felt every bit of his grief, fear & guilt which made me feel so sad while reading this book. And I really adore how the author made it realistic. Every characters felt so real, specially the parents, Carver’s Sister, Carver’s deceased friends, Dr. Mendez, Nana Betsy & Jesmyn. I really love the way they fill in Carver’s empty heart by supporting him throughout his problems in the book.

The plot was so good and I didn’t expect to like it because I’m not really a big fan of YA contemporary books (specially if they’re sad/tearjerker books). I really do love the part where Carver experience his first Goodbye Day with one of his friend’s grandma – Nana Betsy. While reading this part, I remembered my grandma & we are not so close anymore like before when I was still a kid. So I realized that I should spent my more time with her. This book truly taught me a lesson to value the people who loves me & the people I care about. Ok so back to the plot, the pacing was  so good coz whenever I continue on reading it I don’t want to stop until I realized that I’m almost done. The story goes from heartbreaking to healing the wounds in my heart. Not only the plot was amazing but it also taught a very good lesson that you will never forget & you will realized that you needed it.

There’s a little bit of romance, from friends to something else but It didn’t spark to a full time romance. Because the characters are still figuring out the feelings they have felt & they’re still dealing with the grief from losing their love ones.

All in all, this book is one of the best book that I’ve read in 2017. It was so different from all of the YA contemporary books that I’ve read. It’s heartaching but also a heartwarming read at the same time. I felt sadness & happiness while reading this book. It was so amazing and I almost tear up. I hope someday I will experience a goodbye days too. I highly recommend this book to everyone and I will try to read the other book by Mr. Zentner which is “The Serpent King” because his writing was so good, it feels so real  and you will truly experience all the feels on it.

So my rating for this book is

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/ 5 stars

Thank you so much for reading my reviews
