It was my first time reading a VE Schwab book and the VE SCHWAB magic is real!. I’ve heard so many great things about her books and everyone are going crazy over her books. Specially A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC, VICIOUS & GATHERING OF SHADOWS. I also wanted to read those books but they’re too pricey in my local bookstore 😢. I was a little bit afraid that I might not like this book since it doesn’t have romance ( I love romance so much specially in YA fantasy 😂). But I liked it, it was a good read but I cannot add it to MY FAVE BOOKS OF 2016. 

The Characters, So we have to main characters KATE HARKER & AUGUST FLYNN. We have here Kate Harker, heir to Mr.Harker’s business – selling protection for HUMAN against MONSTER and also managing tons of bloodsucking Malchai. Then we also have AUGUST FLYNN, the kind monster who wants to be a human.Also heir to Mr. Henry Flynn’s task force FTF ( I can’t actually get what really are their work/role in this book). VE Schwab created perfect characters for this books. They truly had this amazing chemistry which I totally adore, but sadly there is no romance 😢.

The Writing Style, it was amazing even tho jt was slow paced at first but I definitely love VE.Schwab’s writing style. Even tho the VERSE 1 bored me her writing made me want to turn to the next page. 

The Plot, It was good, the world building still confuses me. It was totally action packed! and I definitely adored that. The ending was not that interesting, I thought there would be a grand climax but I did not feel it. The ending was like watching old action movies, the plot twist is too predictable and I really don’t like it. That what I didn’t like about this book the ending was too cliche, I was expecting more.

All in All, It was a good book even tho I didn’t like the ending. I adored the characters so much and how I wish there would be a romance in the sequel. I’m gonna continue this series and I hope the second book will be better.
